Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) in partnership with Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) had organized an Exporter’s Meet on 16th December, 2019 at Ludhiana for the apparel exporters of the region. The aim of the meet was to apprise the apparel exporters about the various schemes of the Government of India announced for the apparel sector as well as to make them aware about the AEPC and ATDC initiatives for the exporters of the region.

"It is a concern that India is not able to capitalize on opportunity available in the world market after a space vacated by China. This is largely because of the severe working capital crunch that the industry is facing lately, due to non-receipt of the ROSCTL and MEIS benefits to the sector. Over Rs. 5000 crores of reimbursements are pending with the Government putting the industry in a very tight financial position. We are continuously in discussion with the Government for early resolution of the matter as the industry can increase exports in the forthcoming peak season, if the policy benefits are passed on to the exporters in time, said Shri HKL Magu, Chairman, AEPC."

"The ATDC is servicing the skilling needs of the country through the 175 centers Pan India.  The focus is on programmes like RPL, P A C E and customized training programmes that can impetus to the manufacturing units in Ludhiana , said Shri Rakesh Vaid, Sr. Vice Chairman, ATDC on the occasion".

"The government of India has been implementing various programmes for development of textiles and handicrafts, particularly for technology, infrastructure creation and skill development. Huge investments are being made by the Government under Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) and Technology Up gradation Fund Scheme to encourage more private equity and to train workforce. Ludhiana is an important apparel hub. We need to avail of the various schemes and opportunities in the global market to increase exports", said Shri Harish Dua, Permanent Invitee to EC, AEPC.

The exporters also had an interactive session with Mr A S Ranga, Commissioner of Customs on the issues being faced by the industry. Officials from DGFT were also present on the occasion for addressing exporter’s issues.
