  ATDC organizes first International programme on “Industrial Engineering in Apparel Manufacturing”: April 23-27, 2012  
     
 

Gurgaon, April 23, 2012

The Apparel Training & Design Centre has organized International programme on “Industrial Engineering in Apparel Manufacturing in collaboration with Sri Lanka Institute of Textile and Apparel (SLITA), here today. The programme will run between- 23rd to 27th April, 2012 at Apparel Training & Design Centre, National Head Office at Gurgaon.

The Apparel Training & Design Centre was set up under the aegis of AEPC with the objective to provide skilled man-power to the apparel industry. Thrust is to improving the technical edge in manufacturing and to generate employment opportunities for weaker sections of the society. It has tie up with IGNOU to set up a network of Community Colleges.

One of the major initiatives of ATDC is to train the trainers as there is acute shortage of quality trainers to train the candidates envisaged under the skill mission of the Ministry of textiles. The first Training of Trainers' Academy was set up in Gurgaon in early April 2011 and the second TOT Academy in Thiruvananthapuram which started with a soft launch in December. The third TOT Academy is being planned to be made operational in Chhindwara by July 2012. ATDC SMART TOT Academies have now trained 274 candidates over the year.

Training programmes and workshops are being conducted regularly in the areas such as Industrial Engineering, Finishing equipment and techniques, advance courses for machine operators and machine technicians etc.

This training is being conducted by very senior and highly experienced experts from SLITA:

Consultant-1 Senior Technologist; Head of the department of Clothing Technology, SLITA. M.Sc., the North Carolina State University. Special training from several countries such as UK, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. Founder member of Sri Lanka Ergonomics Association.

Consultant-2 Technologist; B.Sc., University of Colombo. M.Sc. the North Carolina State University. Special training from several countries such as Spain, Singapore and Thailand.

The topics to be covered in this training are such as Work Measurement techniques, Time study procedure, Rating Concept, Calculation of Standard Minute Value, Production Planning and control, Principles of Motion Economy, Workplace Engineering. Esteemed Apparel manufacturing organizations like Radnik Exports, Matrix Clothing, Blackberrys, Lilly Fashions and Pratibha Syntex, Indore would be participating in this training. The Certificate distribution ceremony is being planned on the closing day of the programme (27th April, 2012)
