Fashion forecast seminars on spring/summer 2011 in South Africa

The AEPC recently organised fashion forecast seminars for spring/summer 2011 in South Africa at Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore. The events were organised in association with South African fashion designer Maritz Caroline of Creative Vision.

The council has invited her to update Indian merchandisers and designers on trend pattern colour forecast and designs prevailing in South African market so that those companies who are participating in the forthcoming mega show can take proper samples to display.

Ms Caroline covered following themes in her presentation for summer and spring session: adventurous, reflective, nostalgic, honest, optimistic, modern and kaleidoscope.

The colour pallets, fabrics, silhouettes, accessories for men and women were forecasted as per each theme. Each theme had a representation done by world-class designers like Burberry, Dior, Ralph Lauren, and D&G.

The sizing followed in South Africa is British. Colour trends are dominated by tangerine, turquoise and lemon. Orange is popular among men while white and blue always sell.

The product lifecycle is long and the largest selling item for S/S 2009 was SAILOR V. South Africa is price-sensitive and products of organic material do not have enough market.

The business potentiality is good and average time for shipment is one month.
